Matis men preparing for the Ritual of Queixada.  The Matis tribe has an unusually rich culture, even by Amazonian standards.  They practice many beautiful ceremonies, most which have to do with Amazonian animals such as the queixada, a wild pig native to the Amazon Basin.  Being animists, they believe that animal spirits permeate the world, determining success or failure.
