Matsés girl showing  facial and body paint art.  All Matsés children are taught the Matsés dialect as their first language.  This is very important to their cultural integrity.  Many anthropologist believe that one of the keys to cultural survival is to maintain their indigenous language.  Matsés youths are currently receiving a bilingual education in their schools, thus helping to preserve their culture.
