Similar to many of Amazonian native tribes, the Matses have tattoos on their faces.  These tattoos are very important in that they identify which particular Amazon tribe the native is a member of.  Note the accentuated lines on her upper lip.  In addition, note the insertion of fine sticks in the nose that are used to represent feline whiskers in this indigenous people of the Amazon Rain Forest.
