Native Amazonian woman.  Please note that this younger woman does not yet have facial tattoos like the older Amazon native tribal women.  Traditionally, the Matsés had their faces tattooed after reaching adolescence.  Tattoos were an important rite of passage for Amazonian natives, representing both their ethnic identity and passage into adulthood.
